Me Time

Go Ahead... Relax!

Yesterday I was driving to meet up with Alyssa and my mother-in-law, Joanne for dinner. For the first time in a long time, I had alone time in my car. Just myself and my thoughts.

When I was a senior in high school, I had a English professor named Mr. Hunter. He challenged us one day to drive to somewhere without your music. (this was before cell phones were big) He wanted us to let our mind wonder and discover what we find out.

That lesson has never been forgotten, as I do it from time to time. Really I need to do this when I am just slammed with work, family time, and friend time. Need ten to twenty minutes to recharge my battery. Have you ever tried just driving without your cell phone or music on? What did you learn about yourself?

For me it’s a time to reflect on the day. There is nothing better to me to relax with just my thoughts. If you haven’t done this lately, try it and see what you find out. Do it while you drive to work or class. Discover yourself with your all thoughts.

We all have different methods to clear our head on the day. Some read, some play video games, others take a walk, etc. Whatever you do to relax, make sure you do it everyday. Even for five minutes, take the time for yourself. It sounds easy, but truly it’s hard. We are all so busy or try to look really busy and we get lost in our work, family and friends. Just five minutes, you owe it to yourself to relax for five minutes.

Taking your me time is key to survive in this Savage World; that you are no longer living in, but beginning to own!
