Be a Good Neighbor

No, not that way!!

We all them and there is no way around it. No matter who you are or where you are, you will have at least one neighbor. Doesn’t matter if you live in the city or in the middle of no where. Somewhere there is a neighbor near you.

Growing up, my father and mother always made friends with many of the neighbors. They really help build a community for us and really reached out to many people near our house. Now we lived pretty much in the middle of no where in Wrightsville, PA. Somehow my parents made friends with basically everyone around us. To this day it still amazes me.

Here I am years later, living on my own in Lexington, KY with may more neighbors around me. Now, unlike my parents, I am not friends with many of them. Though the ones I am, I truly work on making sure they know we are here to help when needed and extend our helping hand.

Sadly, this isn’t the case for some of our neighbors and I noticed that this is becoming a trend. Not saying this is everywhere, but it is becoming a trend none the less. People go about their day now and really don’t reach out to their neighbors. In this day and age, we are all just so busy and really when we are done with everything for the day we don’t want to deal with the world.

When trouble happens and there is nowhere to turn for a helping hand, you always have a neighbor. In fact this morning our neighbor’s daughter needed help and both her parents were gone. She came over asking my wife and I for help, luckily she knew us and we were able to help her out.

It’s good to know your neighbors around you. By knowing them you are safer with someone watching your house when your gone. Someone to help when you are locked out and need to wait for a key to arrive. Also it’s just good to have a friendly neighbor to wave at in the morning as you leave for work.

Being a good neighbor is key to survive in this Savage World; that you are no longer living in, but beginning to own!
