Showing and Earning Respect

Respect Yourself and others!

We all want to have the respect we deserve. No one wants to go through life with zero respect and being walked on. The problem is most people don’t want to earn the respect anymore. Everyone seems to have this self-righteous, I deserve the respect because of XYZ.

The thing with respect, is you have to earn it with every person. It’s not what you do in your job or how much you have. It’s how you treat people and what you prove to them. No one respects someone when they first meet, that is earned. Sure they may act they love you for all you have, but do they respect in the end?

Even as a boss or employee you have to earn the respect from others from day one. Not just coming in thinking you are the best thing ever. Even if you are the best thing ever you have to be humble.

The best way and fastest way to earn respect is to understand and respect your peers. Get to know who and what they are. Understand their strengths and weaknesses. Give them the respect you want and in return for the most part you should earn it.

The key is respecting others and learning who they are. If you can’t learn to respect others, you will never earn the respect you want. For example, be very respectful of someone’s time. You can’t just call on someone at a drop of dime and expect them to respond every time. By not respecting someone’s time, will truly hurt their respect or wanting to work with you in the future.

To recap, earning peers respect is very simple. Respect them, their time, and learn who they are. In return your peers will respect you and will grow from there. Then you both will earn the respect that you want.

Earning and showing respect is key to survive in this Savage World; that you are no longer leaving in, but beginning to own!
