Being Embarrassed can be good?

It otay..

No matter who you are or what you do, one day in your life you will have an embarrassing moment, heck you may have more than one. Something has probably already happen to you that you are embarrassed about and something will happen again.

Nobody likes to be embarrassed, it is such a horrible feeling when you mess up or do something stupid.  It’s a truly uncomfortable experience; your cheeks get red, you begin to sweat more, and you feel very awkward.

Now, why is being embarrassed a good thing, you ask? Well, the answer is the fact that it makes you human. Yes, it is a horrible feeling, but you do get something very valuable out of it. The thing of value is the story and how you can turn into something great.

The beautiful thing about being embarrassed is looking back at it. At the time the event seems so big in your head and a few minutes, days, or weeks the event becomes a story for everyone involved. They also help explain you as a person and how you respond to it.

For example, when I was about twelve years old I was walking in the woods with my one of my best friends. Now, I knew these woods and probably still know them like the back of my hand. Then it happen, we got lost on our way home and had no idea how to make it out. At the time I was so embarrassed to get someone like my little sister lost and scared that we would be lost before dark.

Fast forward fifteen years later and now the story comes up with giant laughter.  Everyone jokes with us on it and how funny it was that we got lost in the woods out back. Here we are both healthy and lived to tell about it. Now it’s just one of the many embarrassing stories that just brings back memories to joke on.

If you can’t look back at many of your embarrassing stories, then it’s time to change the way you look at things. Maybe you are taking life to serious. Yes, some embarrassing stories are horrible and should never be shared with everyone. Being embarrassed is going to happen to you no matter who you are. Just take a step back and get the good laugh or you could dwell on it wishing it would have been different.

The past can not be changed, but how you see the past can. Either focus on the negative aspects or take it as a lesson and move on. Enjoy this life, don’t dwell on what you could have done differently. Enjoy the embarrassing stories down the road. They will help make you feel human.

Being embarrassed happens in this Savage Worlds; that you are no longer living in, but beginning to own!
