Saving a Life…

This past week I was forced to make a very hard choice on my parents older dog. Now, I knew this dog since I was about 18 years old and now 28.  The choice was to put him down or let him live for a few more weeks/months. The last part of the week, I was focused on how to help my parents make the hard decision at hand.  When the time came, he was walking around and nowhere near in a bad state or looking ready to go under the needle. Jasper (the name of the pup) is still kicking and moving today with the choice being against putting him down.

The point of my story is that sometimes you are the reason why someone is still alive or living for. What we do today for others may really be the reason why they stay alive. This could be in your actions or doing a good deed as saving a child from getting run over. Those small little things can keep someone live for many years.  The funny fact, is that you probably don’t even realized what you said or did, but that one person does.

The story about Jasper was important to me, because I looked at him twenty-minute before we were about to leave for the vet. Looking at him made me see him going down and watching a life go because of our choice. Very hard choice to make, but gladly that choice was not going to be made today and he walked away.

We all face times like this with our animals, friends, and families. Randomly a friend may call you out the blue in tears and wanting to talk. At that time frame, you need to make a choice quickly, to talk or act to busy.  If you go with too busy, then that might have been your conversation with that friend.  If you go the route where you can be an ear and advice, then your friend can move forward in life.

Sometimes in life we just need an ear and a friend to hear our pain. Not everyday, but just every once in a while we need others to survive. Don’t ignore the call when you need someone or if that someone in need calls you! Life is to short and it’s what you do while we are here. Don’t turn your back on people on your friends and family or even a stranger. You never know what life you saved.

Saving lives is key in growing in this Savage World; that you are no longer living in but beginning to own!
