How to Play the Bad Guy

The one and only

In life, sometimes we have to be that guy/girl. You know, the one who has to deliver the bad news. Doesn’t mean we have to like being that person who has to hand someone bad news. Well, some people like being the jerk and do it in a very harsh way.

At times we are thrown under the bus and made the person who has to go over to handle the issue at hand. If you hate doing this, as you should, then there is a trick to do this and handle it right. Just sit back and prepare to handle this hard topic.

First off, always place yourself in the others shoe. No matter how horrible of a person they are, they do have a heart and soul. You really need to look at all angles of their core being. Don’t just walk up to them and say, “Hey Bob, you’re fired! Get out!” Instead, look at Bob’s situation and figure out the best way to word it to him. Explain the reasons and go over how you really feel about firing him.  Think about all the stress and worries that is about to come crashing down on him.

Now there are other issues beside firing someone, but that is just one examples. Other times are breaking up with your other, delivering the passing of a love one, etc.  All you need to do, is just place yourself in their shoes and wonder how it would feel if you were on the receiving end, chances are one day you will. This will help you soften the blow and make it easier to talk it out.

It’s hard being that person to hand out bad news, because no matter what they are going to remember you for it. They may hate you for it even if it’s not your fault, but because you gave them the news.

Just be sensitive in giving bad news in this Savage World; that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!
