Being Dependable

Doing the right thing feels good. No matter who  you are or what you do, when you do something that is right it just feels good.  In life you need be that person who goes out to family events even though you don’t want. The person who plays with the kids, because they want time with you! The person who drives an hour out-of-the-way to help a friend in need. The list goes on and on and on.

We do this, not looking for anything in return. Sometimes nothing comes in return, not even a thank you. Though we do it and continue to help out and be there for friends, family, and sometimes strangers.

People get so stuck in their way of life they don’t stop and realize when people are calling for them. These type of people go, “Oh, I am to busy for that and they move on.”  That hurts us, when they don’t come in our time of need and in time we loss faith in them, because they never show.

That’s why it is very important to be that person who is always there when they can. Yes, sometimes you truly can’t make it out to help, but if you can seventy-five percent of the time then you are dependable. Again, you aren’t rewarded much, but the fact that people know you care for them and are dependable for them.

Yes, people abuse these dependable people. If they abuse and you truly believe they don’t care, then you should move on and make changes. You don’t want your reliability to be abused.

Just treat people the way you want to be treated. Show up to parties, help out when moving, go visit them in the hospital, be an ear or shoulder to cry on, etc.

Being dependable is an important skill to have in this Savage World; that you are no longer living in, but beginning to own!!
