You’re Right

Find the Balance

This morning I turned on my sports news to read about yet again another NFL player talking down about his boss, teammates, league heads, etc. and it really just sparked some thoughts in my head. Yes, I know we all have the right of free speech here in America and we have a right to be free. The key word here is right and today we should maybe talk about it.

There is a difference between abusing your rights and understanding your rights. Just cause you may be a big shot at your office or a big sports star, doesn’t mean you can call the shots with things that don’t concern you. Everyone has their own thoughts on every matter out there and how we go about it is very key. Lets discuss this in more detail.

When having a public or private discussion with someone about anything, the first step is to be respectful. Don’t talk down to them, act like a know it all, use hateful terms, or always disagree with them. Instead listen and be up to what is being discussed with you.

In the office though you may not agree with your boss, you still can not disrespect them publicly or in front of other people. If you have an issue or matter that you think needs to be changed, talk to them and discuss it with them. In turn the boss needs to listen with an open mind, so find the right time to set this up to discuss. Yes, this part is hard, because bosses are very busy and little time to talk, that they come of short.

If you are boss and an employee is having a hard time with something or needs to talk about ideas, this is your job to set up the time to talk and listen. Your employees are very important to you and need to be shown the same respect if not more they give you.

We all have rights  in this world and it’s how we use them, not abuse them. Remember that next time you scream at someone, I am a right to say what I want. Yes, you have the right, but you also need to respect other people and their rights. If you don’t your respect is gone and you are abusing the right.

Understanding your rights is key in this Savage World; that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!!
