The Joys of Manners

Day by day, I begin to see manners go by the way side more and more with people. No longer is it be acceptable to say, please, thank you, excuse me, etc. It’s now more like, give me, move, etc.  We use to be civil to each other growing up and then something happen, we became adults and forgot manners.

For example, today I was driving down the road going about five to ten miles over the speed limit. This wasn’t fast enough for some, one person was tailing me and two others decide to cut me off without using a turn signal. Usually, I would get annoyed, but today it just that left me with the thought, this is happening way to often.

This brought the thought process on about how just having manners is dead. Many times you see friends calling each other names, not the old ribbing but harsher and hateful now. I admit, this guy right here is known to do that to his friends, which needs to change.  People are just in such a hurry and have a me first attitude lately, it’s becoming sick.

If you are like this and know or even don’t know it, there is a way to fix this. Something that is work on everyday in my life, is very simple. Place yourself in the other’s shoes. You don’t like how slow the person is going in front of you and you need to get somewhere fast, slow down a bit and think, why is this person going that speed. Maybe they are older, maybe they have a baby on board, etc.

The world is not about you alone and your thoughts. This is a giant planet with tons of people on it with tons of feelings. Please, thank you, etc. goes a very far way. If you use manners, are helpful, etc. you will see the world in a better light and people will start to pick up on your them first attitude. The lone wolf attitude is to high right now and needs to go back to the pack setting. The lone wolf is more a myth, as wolves run in packs. Join the herd and start thinking of others first.

Open the door for someone, guy or girl. Doesn’t mean you being sexist if you do it for a girl, just means you’re a nice guy. Enjoy helping others and allowing others to help you. If your driving down the high way, don’t just focus on your car alone or who is not driving the way you want them to. Relax, it’s better to get their safe and sound, then hitting someone who had no idea what was going and cause you both to be late, hurt, or worse.

Just using manners in this Savage World; that you aren’t just living in, but beginning to own!!
