Keeping the Promise

Everyday we make promises to people we work with, love, care for, clients, etc. The question today is, how good are you at keeping that promise. Many times we try to fulfill on these promises, but sometimes fall short. It’s the people who make all the promises in the world, but never deliver is the issue today.

For example, say you are about to hire a company, promising this company you are ready to go, want to work with them and have them get ready to help out. Only in turn to never sign that contract, pay the bill, or actually work with them. Sounds fair, right? As a small business owner, I see this a lot of times and not only to my company.

If you are that type of business person, the hurt you cause is giant, not only to that company you promised to work with, but with yourself. Every promise you break, no matter who you are, it will destroy your name. If you promise to work with someone or help someone, then back out at the last-minute, mostly without telling them, then your name falls into the mud.

In your home life with your wife, husband, children, brothers, sisters, etc. You will make promises to them you can not keep. The trick is, doing your best to make sure these promises are kept. Even the smallest broken promise can lead to hurt and wonder.

My major advice is only make promises you can keep. If you don’t people will start to doubt you. This leads to fear with you and if you are dependable. Instead, just make promises you can keep even if it isn’t a bunch of promises, just make the ones you know you can keep.

Staying true to your word is key in this Savage World; that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!
