The Spirit of the Season

Happy Holidays!!

Tis the Season to say Gimme!!! Well, honestly it’s not, but it seems that way lately, doesn’t? Every where you go you hear what people want for Christmas, not only in just talk but broadcasted all over Facebook and Twitter. It’s kind of getting to the point where it’s a little overdone. Now I am all for giving gifts, that’s my thing, giving gifts is such a beautiful thing. The trick is to give to the right people and only ask for things that you want from certain people. If you broadcast what you want to the world, chances are you will come off greedy and annoying.

In the spirit of the holidays I have a small little challenge for you readers. Instead of asking everyone on your Facebook for gift cards or new shoes, how about asking them to help you volunteer somewhere or help do something great for the community around you. For example, I donate my time to the Lexington Humane Society, two hours a week every Friday. This year, I am going to go in for an hour or two a day every day for the last week of this month, including the two hours on that Friday. This way I can donate more time to a great cause in my community.

We can always ask for new items, we can always demand better toys, but at the end of the day, it’s the season to give. This is truly when your community needs it more than you. Reach out to the soup kitchen, animal shelters, toys for tots, etc. whatever you do, remember others with less than you need help.

It’s okay to want gifts and make a list, heck I do every year. Friends and family like to get gifts and of course receive them. Just try not to broadcast it everywhere, keep it to a small amount of people who you know you are getting gifts for and they are getting gifts for you.

Remember others this season, find ways to build on your community, and please let us know what you are doing. Never know, may give us all items to go out and help the world.

Giving during the holiday season is key in this Savage World; that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!
