Let it Go

Let it go, or meet this bundle of joy

This past weekend was a big one for me in the sports world, my old college the University of Cincinnati was playing crosstown rivals, Xavier University. Usually this is a great, hard-fought game, between the two schools. That any fan of the Cincinnati area can’t wait to see every year.

This rival game is usually showcased on a national televised stage. Also I been to two or three of these matchups in my lifetime. Sadly, this game had a different ending that truly made me upset with my school and my rival school. A fight broke out in the middle of the court near the end of the game, which showcased some sucker punches, stumping on a man while he is down, and a lot of yelling. Followed by a post game media talk with players talking about being thugs and where they are from and zipping people up.

Needless to say this was a very ugly display of sportsmanship on both sides of the court. No matter the score, the whole game was destroyed because someone tweeted this or Facebook that.  This is what said to have sparked the words, that lead to a shove, that gave us the UC/XU brawl of 2011.

The past year one of my main topics is to be careful what you say and read on these social media sites. People are going to say stuff that just sounds mean and hateful. Don’t take it seriously, don’t get mad, because you might end up hitting that person, with more issues to come.

Also, let it go! There is no need to be mad at someone because they are on another team and don’t view things the same way as you. That’s life, everyone in some point in their life will disagree with and you have to accept that. It’s okay to have different views , that’s how we learn and grow.

This game was a prime example of what this blog has been saying for over the past year. Let it go, don’t read into that social media stuff like Twitter and Facebook. Have the sense to back away and go, you’re right and let it be. This game should teach us, not to let our emotions go wild. When they do you lose friends, loved ones, support from the community, etc. Picture if they have been reading this blog for the past year, maybe they would have known not to do this.

In the process don’t lose your heart, stay true to what you believe in, just don’t hurt the ones you love and don’t know. Cause once, you say it and once you do it, there can never be a way to go back to undo it.

Letting it go is key in this Savage World, that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!
