Buy Local and Stay Local

Services and Products

Buy Local is the new craze going around, buy local fruit, buy local merch, buy local crafts, etc. It is truly an amazing thing, buying local that is and I agree with that completely. Just one other thing I would like to add to the buy local, is buy local services. That’s right if you are company or even a family buying local services are key too.

You see the stories how small business owners are closer to home to you and how they work very hard to keep money flowing into the local economy, right? Today, I want you to see what you can do to help this part. If you are business and you need a marketing firm, do it local, don’t go to the big corporation that is New York and you are in Lexington, KY. How can a company that far help the need of your growth if they don’t even know you face to face. Also other companies like a business development firm, advertising, photos, printing, plumbers, etc.

Buying local products is very key, because it helps the local business owner support their workers, which then support families, that then bring more jobs to the area. Buying local services is on the same line and way too many times, I see people ignore this factor. They only see the 50% of what needs to be bought local and not the other 50%.

Think of it this way, you use a local service to help your company or home then you are getting a more personal touch. These people live and breathe to help you out. They are more likely to listen to your needs, work with your budget, and discuss your plans to better serve you.

For example,  about a year and a half I had a  Roto Rooter come out to help fix a water leak. They basically stated they would fix it for $3,000-$5,000, but rip up my yard in the process, because they were going to guess where the leak was. Well, $3,000 was out of the budget for a small water leak. When I called a local plumber, he was out there that day, located the leak and had it fix by the next day for under $500. My yard wasn’t a mess, he did it in a few hours and the leak was gone.

The reason for my story is simple, buying local services can not be ignored to. They are the heart beat of your local community even if you don’t know it. Help the little guys out and help support local products, services, and stores!!

Being Local is great in this Savage World; that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!
