All About the Sun Today

Opening up!

Truth be told, I really want some rain here in Lexington and the past two days it just looked like was going to open at any minute and sadly it never did. Today is a different story, the sun is high in the sky this morning beaming down and not holding back.  Today just feels right, like the past few days the sun was fighting to come out, but the clouds were blocking its view.

Lets talk about the sun versus the clouds today and how it goes with your everyday life. Think of it this way, the sun is bright, makes you happy, and wants you to be out in it. The clouds and rain, want you to hide inside, can bring you down, and just can get you into a bad mood. Like the sun, when you are down, your brightness tries to break out of your depressing clouds. May not seem like it at times, but your sun is wanting to shine every moment it can

Clouds in your head are the fog that runs in during the morning, you really don’t know where it came from or why it’s there. All you want to truly do is get out of the funk the clouds put you in, so you can have a good day. Trick is you have to fight through the clouds with your sun, allow it to break free. Clear your mind of the troubles you have, or work through the issues so you can break free from it all.  Some days you have to work through the issues, other days you just need to  get the sun to come out a little bit more than usual. Once it’s out though, the world does seem brighter.

Monday, Monday

Ahhh Monday, what a beautiful day of the week. How many post can I make about this wonderful day? Personally, I think millions.  Yup, this is the day most people joke about, hate, and just wish was never around, but again today we need to stress the importance of a Monday.

Why is Monday so important you ask? Why can’t we just roll over in bed and wait for Tuesday? Simple really, Monday is the day of the week that you get to start over fresh. You just had two great days off and now have a chance to kick off another great work or school week for yourself. Yea, it’s nice to sleep in and if Monday never came around, Tuesday would be just as bad.

Think of it this way, you wake up Monday morning dreading your work week and work load. You just want to sleep in a little more like the weekend and relax or do house work.  Instead Monday comes quickly and wakes you up out of your peaceful slumber way to early.  It sounds awful right? Really, it’s not, Mondays should be the day that sets the tone for the week.

For example, you come into work on Monday tired, sleepy, annoyed, and just don’t wanna be bugged. This will lead to your Monday being bad, because you already think it is going to be. Now if you come in happy, ready to get some things going, and start moving earlier, Monday is going to be good, because you already have it planned.

Here’s the real deal, you want to be more productive at your work? Kick start the week of on Monday, once you have a good start to the week it will mostly only get better. Remember to smile, think positive thoughts, remember that it isn’t a bad day. This day is very important and we need to start focusing on how great the day is!

Making Monday amazing is key in this Savage World; that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!

Holiday Monday

Comfy

Well, to most of America it’s an off day and here I sit in my office alone, looking to get a head today. Now, I could be home sleeping in, enjoying a three day week, but instead it just felt right going into the office today. My client list is pretty full and just after an recharging weekend, I am ready to take on the week. So what does this have to do with today’s blog and what am I going to discuss today? Well read down and find out.

Today’s lets start about how to handle a day you go into work and it seems like the rest of the world is off. Is this going to be the most productive day in the year? Well, it can be? Some treat days like this as a, “Yea everyone else is off so I will do everything at half speed, cause it’s okay.” Wrong answer on that, the trick to working a holiday is to just treat it like every other day.

When you are in on a day like today, take advantage of it! Get a head in work and take the time to do it right. Sometimes it doesn’t seem fair that you are there during a holiday like President’s day and everyone is off having fun. Chances are you aren’t the only one working on this day. Just treat it like every other day and you will be okay, I promise.

Taking advantages of workday holidays is key in this Savage World, that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!

All Work and No Play

Make you a dull boy

Now-a-days it’s always work, work, work and no play. Remember the movie/book The Shining? The famous quote? “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.” Well the saying is true, all work and no play will drive you crazy! Many times we over work ourselves with school, plus work, plus family life, etc. that we forget to take time for ourselves and when we try to get a few hours to ourselves, BOOM we are pulled into another person’s world.

So here’s what we all need to do, slow down and stop for an hour a day. No, there is no excuse why you can’t pull yourself aside to stop working or dealing with people for an hour. This is how you release the stress, find something that can help calm you down and shut off the world. For me, I turn on the game system and just get lost in a fake world. For others it’s jumping into a book or a quick run. (Which I also do at times)

By getting out of your routine and just turning off your world for a little bit, will make your life ten times easier. Understand it’s hard to get away, cause of spouse, friends, family, kids, etc. etc. but still just force yourself away from it for an hour each day. Trust me, you will thank me afterwards.

Laughing at your Mistakes

Just Laugh

Mistakes, we all make them, in fact you probably already made at least five today if not more.  Lets face it, no matter who you are and what you do, you will make a mistake from giant mistakes to tiny mistakes. No matter what it is, you can make it through, nothing is super bad that it will end your life.

Today’s lets talk about mistakes and how to handle them. With the little mistakes, like forgetting your laptop at home when you need it for work. Then you remember right when you pull in and need to go back to get it. Stuff like that, be honest and laugh at that mistake. Don’t get mad at yourself or at someone for forgetting it, stuff like that happens. Just buck up, drive back home, get the lap top and come back. That easy, trust me, getting mad does nothing but make your day worse.

Now there are some mistakes that are hard to handle. You mess up major thing at your job or you have a friend that you really hurt by doing something stupid. Here’s the best advice, admit to your mistake, say you are sorry, and do what you can to make it right. Don’t hide the mistake and pretend like it didn’t happen. Hiding it only causes lies, which lead to confusion, which leads to hate from the other party.

In the end, owning your mistakes is what you need to do. At the little ones, just laugh them off. Who cares if you get caught locked outside your house in your undies, it happens, no harm no foul. If you make a giant mistake in life, it’s okay, not the end of the world, just fess up and make it right.

Busy Does Not Equal Awesome

Just soo busy.. Please hold.

Lately, everyone is always so busy. With some many ways to communicate it almost seems impossible for someone not to send out a text, hop on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.  Just seems like everything you want to do has to be pushed back till tomorrow, than tomorrow becomes next week, then next month, then next year, etc. etc.  So what happens when work always seems to get in the way and you just can’t do what you want in life anymore? I am telling you when you say you are super busy to someone, it doesn’t make you as special as you think.

Here’s the picture I want you to have in your head. Picture yourself always running, going into work early, staying late, and then coming home to work again. Your friends, reach out to you but never can get a hold of you because your cell phone is usually used for work only. The house work, it can be done later or someone else can do it.  When you actually talk to your friends on your social media page, you just always say that your just so busy with work and your extra activities so you can’t talk or meet up. But it’s okay, you tell yourself you need to do this for work and to make it better for yourself there. Does that sound like you?

Now, on the flip side of what your friends and family are hearing from you. First off, when all you do is work and don’t help around your house. Your spouse takes on much extra pressure to clean, cook, take care of the kids, pets, etc. This causes a lot of stress on your spouse to do it alone, plush their own work, and lives.

On your friends view of this; when you say you are too busy to talk they hear that they aren’t important enough for you to take five minutes to talk or even grab some coffee. Maybe your friend is hurting and needs someone to just reach out and have a shoulder to cry on. Maybe they have great news they want to share with you. Maybe…they just want to hear from you and know about your world. When they can’t reach you, they lose faith in you and become to go, “Okay, it’s time to move on, cause I am done trying to be your friend.”

Finally your family needs to know what is going on. When you are too busy to stop by for a ball game, a party, etc. you send a message of how unimportant that family member is. This doesn’t go for brothers and sisters, but cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents, parents, etc.  The two busy for your own family, can hurt more than you think. It’s okay not to go to every event, but when you miss them all it sends out a massive message.

The reason, I brought this subject up today is to hit a point. As you know from Monday’s blog a good friend of mine passed away last week. I really messed up as a friend at times, I wasn’t there for him all the time and didn’t do more to reach out. Always thought he would pull through and I would have all the time in the world, sadly I didn’t. My lost time with him can never be earned, because I was always to busy for him and that wasn’t fair. That’s not fair to my friends and family, so today this blogger is going to change it.

If you are one of those people who always is too busy. The ones who can’t put the work down and always has something else they need to do. Take a minute to breathe and reach out to friends, family, and loved ones. Place the work down for an hour a night, reach out through phone calls, e-mails, Facebook, text, etc. There is so many ways to get through to your friends now that there is no longer an excuse not to.

Don’t let the moment leave you, because you don’t know what will happen to tomorrow. Your friends and family are here for such a short time. The blessings they give us are truly amazing. Don’t let it slip away, because you were too busy for everyone and everything.

Holidays and Work

HOLIDAYS!!!!!

Wow the holidays are here and in full effect right now. Can you feel the holiday cheer all around? Everyone is out buying gifts, decorating the houses, putting up trees and getting them ready for the big day. It’s such a pretty time of year for any faith and it’s just going to continue to be that way. The question is how do we stay focused at work with all this going on.

One major trick is to see what you have in front of you at your desk and work on it. Write down a list of what you need to do today for work and to get ready for the holidays. Focus on what you can at work, try not to let the little stuff distract, because the big stuff will. Like holiday parties in the office or people sharing gifts with you.

Don’t feel so pressured this time of the year with your work, trust me most of the world is trying to finish the year also. Everyone knows this is a slow work month a lot of times, esp in business to business sales. If you a teacher, this is a hard time because not only do you have to stay focus, but your students have to also. Trying to do some stuff that will make them focus the energy on you and for yourself to do the same. This way you can make that clock tick faster, by doing something exciting for your job.

Outside your work the holiday is full effect and inside the office it is still the same old stuff. Remember work still needs to be done, but the days are going to be long if you don’t make them exciting. Try to stay busy and don’t ignore coworkers who want to say happy holidays by sharing gifts.

Just relax, you can make it through till the end of the year. Remember this is the best time of year, just enjoy it and focus on the work at hand. The fun stuff will come soon.

Staying focus on times of fun is key in this Savage World, that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!

Happy Halloween 2011

Happy Halloween!!!!

Good morning world and a big happy Halloween to everyone out there! This is on of the best Holidays of the year. Not because you get a ton of candy and get to go from door to door asking for it. This holiday just allows people to break out of their shell and dress up as whatever they like. For one night a year, you can dress up whatever you like and no one will turn their head. Well most people won’t turn their head.

Lets start off with what happen Saturday night, now this year’s costume was one of my favorites. An 80’s rocker outfit and yes it was pretty out there. Anyways, the group of us go out to a local pub after the party. Now it was a more upscale pub and not many people were there. We walk in and the stares hit us hard followed with the muttering under their breath of us.

Now you can do three things with that, leave the place totally embarrassed, you can yell at the people who stare, or walk by them with your head held high and find a sit. We just walked by them and enjoyed our night without batting an eyelash.

The point of the story is, be proud of who you are and what you are doing. Not just on Halloween, go out and be yourself. Show your confidence, be proud of your ideas, how you look, and act. No one should make fun of you because you decided to dress up for Halloween or any day for that.

The flip side of this is also, don’t judge what someone is wearing. At least keep your rude thoughts to yourself. People can hear you mutter and you don’t know how thick their skin is. Watch what you say to someone, what if my group was the kind of people who finally made the big choice to finally let loose and these people made us feel silly.  Chances of letting loose like that again will probably never happen.

In this Halloween remember to have fun and continue to be proud of yourself and what you do! Enjoy the fun we call life and who you are. There is nothing wrong with you and no one can tell you different.

Be free on this Halloween is key in this Savage World; that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!!

Don’t Let it Bug You

Wow!!!

Some mornings we wake up and it’s just not a good start. You know those mornings when your contact falls down the drain, don’t have a replacement, or you spill coffee all over yourself on the way to work. Just one of those mornings that you wish you could do over, right? We all had them and will have them from time to time. It isn’t about the bad morning, it’s how we respond to it.

We could look at the morning and not move on from it. We can make that bad morning are whole day. That’s sounds like a great excuse to be mean and hateful to others who have no idea what happen to you this morning.  Here’s the crossroad choice for you then, be mad and upset all day by making everyone wanting to avoid you or mad too. Or, you could place that morning behind you, be happy that the bad stuff happen this morning instead of taking it to work, school, family event, etc.

The thing is if you let it bug you all day, then yes your day will be bad. Though if you place it in the past and let it go, then your day has  a chance of being really good.  So what you have a big spot on your shirt, or you have to wear your glasses again. Just rock it, pretend like nothing is wrong even if your head is freaking out.. Calm it down, nothing you can do about it but just go with it, right? What you want to go get new contacts, but the order will take 3-4 days and the coffee stain, go home get changed and go to work that will make you an hour late?

It’s better just to go with and accept what you are dealt with for the day. Rock the fact that you have glasses on, the coffee stain in the most random spot. Just play it off, laugh at yourself and just go with the butterfingers approach. Besides, it could always be worse right? Just enjoying what you have going on for the day and don’t let the bad morning ruin it for you.

Shrugging off a bad morning is key in this Savage World, that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!!

Just Dance

LIVE LIKE THIS!!!

Earlier today I was driving into work normally, just kind of going about my drive, till I happen to look in my mirror during a stop light.  The sight I saw brought a big giant smile to face. A grown man was in the car behind me, with his hands in the air, palms open, swaying back and forth and then looking back at his child in the back seat game him another little dance. Clearly, the child was upset and the father didn’t care who saw him dance, anything to make himself and his child happy.

To dance like no one is watching is key in this life. Many times, we hold back our inner nerd because others may see it as weird. Well to those that think dancing in your car for yourself or family, I say grow up and have fun! No need to be a stick in the mud anymore. Just dance, get out there and dance like no one is watching, You can’t dance, so what, neither can the person next to you.

Little stuff like dancing for fun, singing, laughing, and just being goofy really helps us release stress. Everyone wants to smile, no matter who hateful and sad they are. Little things like dance for your child, can not only make your child’s day but the person in the car in front of you.

Time to let your feet break loose and your hair down for just a few minutes. Enjoy the moments and watch the good that comes from it. See how it gives you the energy to move through the day.

Just having to dance to dance is key in this Savage World; that you are no longer just living in, but beginning to own!
