Busy Equals Good

Scary huh?

Ever hear your coworker or employee complain about there being too much work? Just feel like the paper work is just never ending and you are never going to get out of the office? With some days you find yourself wishing you had zero work at all so you can coast the rest of the day?

Honestly, being busy is a great thing! You need to embrace being busy and stop sitting there complaining about. Busy means you have work and having work means you’re job is safe. This is for everyone out there in the work force. Doesn’t matter if your running your business or working for someone. Being busy is the keys to your job.

For example, Geoff (my business partner) was away on meetings today and training with our new client. This left me back at the office to handle all the client work and company work. Let me tell you it was a busy, busy day! Phew. Though I got all the work done and got some great finds for our client. Even sent out some communication with our clients and prospects.

At one point in time I was sitting at my desk today and said, “Gosh, I am overwhelmed and just busy!” Then I realized, that a year ago I would have killed to be this busy. Reminds me that we have come along way from 2009 and being busy is an amazing thing!

The major key to being busy is being organized.  To focus you’re energy on the tasks at hand. One thing we do over here is to use our google calendar to show our team and ourselves what we are working on that hour. Also a todo list made every morning or night before with the highest item on top. This has been one of the major keys to our success.

The last key I will hit on today is how to handle the busy factor. That’s communication with your team and company. Talk about what you are doing and planning it out. For example we do Monday morning meetings before the week starts. This way we are primed, pumped, focus, and know where everything stands for the week.

Yes surprises happen and they will hit you hard especially when you are busy. The key is how you react. Lets recap on how to handle the busy. First we will be organized by building to do list and using calendar to let everyone know where we stand on our work. Also we will have great communications with weekly meetings to get us ready for all the work ahead.

If you’re busy try to remember the key fact that busy equals work and work equals keeping your job. Enjoy the busy and hopefully this help some of you get pumped for those busy days!

Remember it’s a Savage World out there and you are no longer just living in it, you’re learning how to own it!
